DSL Setup Instructions

 

Internet Setup Instructions for High Speed DSL Service:

These instructions apply only to computers connected directly to the DSL service.  Do not use these instructions if you have a router.  You will need to consult your routers documentation for instructions about programming the static IP address into the router.

Windows XP:

Click "Start" then click "Control Panel".
Double click "Network and Internet"  (if not available continue to next step).
Double click "Network Connections".
Right click "Local Area Connection" then click "Properties".
Double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
Change the setting to "Use the following IP address".
Enter in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS numbers.
Click "OK" then "OK" on the next window.
Close any other windows that are open and you should be connected to the internet.

 

Windows Vista:

Click "Start" then click "Control Panel".
Click "Network and Internet"  (if not available continue to next step).
Click "Network and Sharing Center"
Click "Manage Network Connections" on the left side of the window.
Right click "Local Area Connection" then click "Properties".
Double click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)"
Change the setting to "Use the following IP address".
Enter in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS numbers.
Click "OK" then "OK" on the next window.
Close any other windows that are open and you should be connected to the internet.

 

Windows 7:

Click "Start" then click "Control Panel".
Click "Network and Internet"  (if not available continue to next step).
Click "Network and Sharing Center"
Click "Change Adapter Settings" on the left side of the window.
Right click "Local Area Connection" then click "Properties".
Double click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)"
Change the setting to "Use the following IP address".
Enter in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS numbers.
Click "OK" then "OK" on the next window.
Close any other windows that are open and you should be connected to the internet.
