Okay. You're ready to make a statement on the Internet. You've created a web page and want to display it to the rest of the world. Follow the steps listed below to setup your pages on our server. Be advised of the following:
1. We need to activate FTP (File Transfer Protocol) access for your account. This will allow you to transfer web pages from your computer to our server. Contact our office to request FTP access (there is a form to sign) and for information on available server space.
2. Obtain an FTP program that will run on your computer. A good example for PC users is WS FTP LE.
3. Install the FTP program on your computer. The connection screen for WS FTP LE (version 4.50) is shown below. Other FTP programs will be similar. If you are a Runestone Internet Services customer, the "Host Name/Address" is www.runestone.net as shown. The host name should be www.rea-alp.com if you are an REA-ALP customer. Notice: Be sure to include the www part of the address.

4. Click OK to establish a connection with our server. You will see a list of ~username directories.
5. Locate your username directory and double-click into it. Notice: You no longer use a public_html directory.
6. Using the FTP program, upload your web pages (including any subdirectories with graphics, etc.) to the server.
7. Make sure your top level (home) web page has one of the names listed below. If not, use the FTP program to rename it.
8. Shut down the FTP program.
9. Start your Internet browser.
10. Enter the address for your web page into the browser's address field. Use the correct address for your Internet provider.
11. Your home web page should appear!
Refer to our Web Page Tools menu for information about counters and forms-to-email facilities that are available for use on your pages.
